Before your session
A good tattoo starts before you sit down. Prepare your body and your skin and the session runs smoother, heals better, and ages sharper. Here is everything to do in the days and hours before.
Show up rested, fed, and ready
A full session runs six to seven hours and starts at 11:00 AM. How you arrive decides how it goes — well-hydrated skin takes ink better, a fed body holds up through a long sit, and healthy skin heals cleaner. None of this is complicated; it just has to be done before you get here.
How to prepare
- 01
The week before — protect your skin
Stay out of the sun and do not tan or burn the area. Sunburned or peeling skin cannot be tattooed and will force a reschedule. Moisturize the area daily so the skin arrives healthy and supple.
- 02
24–48 hours before — no alcohol or blood thinners
Alcohol, aspirin, and other blood thinners make you bleed more, which pushes ink back out and slows healing. Skip them for at least 24 hours. Never stop prescribed medication without asking your doctor first.
- 03
Hydrate for a few days
Drink water consistently in the days before — not just the morning of. Well-hydrated skin holds ink better and is easier to work on than dry skin.
- 04
The night before — sleep and eat
Rest well and eat a proper meal. A rested body handles a long session far better than a tired one. Arriving exhausted or running on empty is the fastest way to a rough sit.
- 05
The morning of — eat and hydrate
Have a full meal before you come. Low blood sugar is the number-one cause of feeling faint in the chair, and the session runs 6–7 hours. Bring water and a snack to keep your energy up through the sit.
- 06
What to wear and bring
Wear comfortable, loose clothing that gives easy access to the area and that you do not mind getting ink or ointment on — dark colors hide stray ink. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID (required, 18+), your payment, and headphones or something to pass the time.
